- This sheet music for the song “Dear Ireland When You’re Free” was written by P. J. Sweeney and composed by J.A.T. Noble. Originally published by S.W. Simpson in 1898, this sheet music appeared as a supplement to the “Sunday World” on March 3, 1898. The cover has an illustration of 3-leaf clover, and one leaf has picture of Robert Emmet, another leaf has picture of Charles Stewart Parnell. Both men are celebrated as Irish nationalists, and this song was a nationalist ode to Ireland.
