Costume Blanket
Object Details
- Donor Name
- Dorsey J. Griffith
- From card: "Araucanian Indian costume blanket, Chile. Blue with red stripes in the center and ends, containing geometric decorations. Purchased for $25 [when?]. [Note added later:] In April 1976 Ann Rowe felt that this specimen is not Araucanian, but probably Bolvian. [Additional later note:] Feb 1978: A visitor Mr. Forde from Canada identified this as from the Aymara, Western Cochibamba, Boliva."
- In Dec. 2014, another visitor, Anita (Ana) Paillamil Antiqueo, a Mapuche weaver, saw this blanket and (without seeing the previous comments) said it is not from Araucania, but "maybe Bolivia or Peru". Changed locality and culture to "Bolivia (?)"
