- The type is the well known bearded and long robed Dionysus, regularly associated in Greek Art with the Indian triumph of the God. The prototype may have possibly been that Liber Pater which Pliny ascribes to the school of Praxiteles. Found in the Villa of Pollio Velius at Posilippo, near Naples. [Pp. 5-6; exhibited under heading: "Marbles."]
