- Description
- Illustration for Herman Melville's Benito Cereno. Abstracted rendering of a topless figure holding a baby to their breast, shown from the waist up. The figure has cuffs on each wrist, and a blanket or cloth draped across their lap. The background is geometrically abstracted, perhaps depicting the deck of a ship. The figure and the baby are both shaded in brown, while the cuffs, parts of the background and some highlights are shaded in teal.
