- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view from the artist's New York estate known as Olana, possibly looking east toward the Taconic Mountains. In the foreground, a green pasture or field descends to a dense and dark line of trees. The middle distance consists of a rolling, green, and pastoral landscape that extends into the background, where the dark silhouette of a low mountain range stretches across the horizon. A long bank of billowing cumulus clouds rises behind the range, and are tinged in reddish orange light. Sporadic wispy clouds hang in an otherwise dark blue sky above.
