- Description
- This is a blank color comic postcard that has not been addressed or mailed. The image depicts a male cat photographer taking a portrait of a cat family inside their home. Tall buildings and trees can be seen outside the windows. The mother cat is wearing a dress and is seated at the front, holding a sleeping baby kitten wearing a pink onesie. A young boy cat dressed in a long sleeved striped shirt, overalls, goggles, and a helmet was clearly seated in a toy race car on the floor to his mother's right side. However, he is reaching for an undressed mouse that is running out of the edge of the scene and is tipping over the reace car. The father cat, wearing a suit and tie, and holding a cigar, is standing behind the mother cat. One young girl cat, holding a bouquet of flowers, is standing to hr father's right. Another young girl cat, holding what appears to be a puppy cradled in her arms, is seated on a balustrade to the right of her sister. Both girl cats are wearing sweaters and skirts. With the exception of the baby kitten, everyone in the scene is looking at the fleeing mouse. An undressed dog, apparently the cat family's "pet," is dancing on its hind legs to the left of the photographer cat and appears as though it's going to chase the mouse.
- The surface of the postcard has a pebbled texture.
- These postcards are known as "Mainzer Cats" or "Mainzer Dressed Cats. " The publisher is the Alfred Mainzer Company, but the artist is Eugen Hurtung.
