Description
Rectangular cardboard box, wrapped in paper with printed label featuring an engraved image of an oil well operation. Box contains a glass bottle with cork stopper and paper label. Bottle is 2/3 full of amber colored liquid.
Label on front of box reads: "Natural Hair Restorer / Trade Mark. / Carboline / Registered Dec. 18TH 1877. / A deodorized extract of petroleum / A wonderful discovery -- Restores / Gray hair / to its / Natural color / The only article that / restores the hair on / bald heads. / Softens & beautifies the hair. / Eradicates dandruff. / Is the best & cheapest / Hair dressing in the world. / Price $1.00. / The Penn Chemical Drug Co. / General Agents for / United States."
Label on back of box: "Carboline is prepared from the Oil as it flows from Natures Great Chemical Laboratory and contains the elements required by the Hair to feed upon, a few applications will show its restorative qualities, does not require months of continued use before you can perceive any results, it is cooling cleanly and too much praise cannot be bestowed upon it, contains not a particle of Lead, Silver, Sulphur or other deleterious drugs."
