Albert Naquin, Traditional Chief; Boyo Billiot, Deputy Chief; Chantel Comardelle, Tribal Secretary; and Heather Stone, collaborator; made the following comments during the Isle de Jean Charles Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Recovering Voices Community Research Visit, October 23-27, 2017. Boyo notes that on the Island blow guns were made with a different material, wood instead of cane. Albert notes that the longer the gun was, the straighter it shot. Heather asks the group to explain the materials used on the end of the darts. It is cotton and not feathers. Boyo and Albert explain that feathers wouldn't seal up the blowgun whole to be able to push out the dart. Cotton used to be grown on Isle de Jean Charles.
