- Collection History
- Collection history unknown; formerly owned by "Waters" (probably Walter C. Waters, 1874-1943, owner of the Bear Totem Store in Wrangell, Alaska, and a collector of Native objects); acquired from Waters in 1929 by Axel Rasmussen (1886-1945, a collector and superintendent of schools in Wrangell and Sitka, Alaska) in 1932; lent by Axel Rasmussen to the Wrangell Institute (a Native boarding School in Wrangell, Alaska) at an unknown date and presumably transferred to the Institute's possession with Rasmussen's death in 1945; purchased by Susan D. Barrow (1907-1988, a teacher at the Wrangell Institute) and her husband Henry D. Barrow (1909-1987, a ship captain) from the Wrangell Institute in 1945; purchased by MAI from Mr. and Mrs. Barrow in 1948.
