- Be Tik Tok Worthy! Empowering Teens to lead Environmental Action
- Description
- Smithsonian staff will co-present with high school teachers from the Chesapeake Math and IT Academy to describe their collaboration to empower teens to lead environmental action projects at their school. The session will show how schools and museums - as formal and informal learning spaces - powerfully complement one another to engage students in environmental action (and social media worthy activities!) Presenters will share examples of student work, and resources created by educators that are applicable to any school. Brainstorming activities with participants will show how any classroom can use the environment as content for action, advocacy and justice, and will explore practical tips on how to get started and how to find a cultural partner in any community.
