- Eleven of the photographs are captioned. The album is signed by Laws in ink on the inside cover "Robert Laws, Livingstonia" alongside a photograph, signed on verso, of Booker T. Washington. Ph022 is the accession number in the Russell E. Train inventory list of the Joseph F. Cullman 3rd Library of Natural History.

- The photographs also include those showing village life in the region of Livingstonia.;Dr. Laws was director of the Livingstonia Mission from 1875 to 1927. He met Booker T. Washington, whom he greatly admired, in 1909.
