- Scope and Contents note
- A manuscript diary kept by Stigand during a shooting expedition in East Africa. Covers the period 13 November 1911 when he left Victoria Station in London to 1 November 1912 when the diary abruptly ceases at Tombe Musa. A great deal of elephant hunting and his register at the front shows kills of hartebest, warthog, waterbuck, etc. During this time, as five pages of notes at the rear attest, he was writing "The Land of Zinj," sending lepidoptera to Roland Ward. Loosely inserted are ten Sudanese postal service receipts dispatching the various chapters, specimens, etc.
