Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements: Silver albumen on paper, mounted on cards.
Condition: The condition of these items varies. Some are faded badly, as well as scuffed and soiled.

Custodial History: Some cards are stamped on the verso "Given Feb. 28, 1938 / by Wm. S. Appleton," and Feb. 28 in other years, from 1928-1947. One is labeled "Gift of Mrs. Foster Stearns / 28 July 1930."

Scope and Contents: Forty-six images of unidentified landscapes, some of which also include groups of people. Features include waterfalls, fields, trees, mountains, lakes, rivers, an island, etc. Many cards are by unidentified photographers, but others were photographed and/or published by Edward and Henry T. Anthony, Charles Bierstadt, E.T. Brigham, G.W. Wilson, Aberdeen (a view of "Ben Lomond, from near Tarbet"), Whitney & Zimmerman, S. Towle, Geo. M. Stone, Haines, H.F. Preston, J.W. & J.S. Moulton, Miller & Brown, and Julius Hall.

Restrictions: Unrestricted research use on site. Photographs must be handled with white cotton gloves, unless protected by plastic sleeves.
