- Scope and Contents
- The Correspondence series contains letters to Curtis as well as carbon copies of some of his replies. During the course of processing the archivist visited several archival repositories with major Curtis holdings, including the Seaver Center for Western History Research at the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, the Braun Research Library at the Autry Museum, the Pierpont Morgan Library, and the Getty Research Center. Some material from these collections that closely relates or helps to explain the material at the NAA was photocopied and placed within the collection for researcher convenience.

- Viewing of the photographic negatives and transparencies requires advance notice and the permission of the Photo Archivist. Access to the Edward S. Curtis papers and photographs requires an appointment.
