- This series documents Smith's professional activities outside of his research and work at University of Alabama. This series contains materials relating to conferences he participated in, including papers he presented; organizations that he was a member of; talks that he gave; reviews of grant applications; and reviews of manuscripts under consideration for publication. In the series are also announcements for conferences he may or may not have attended. There are no materials from his term as president of the Society of Economic Botany from 1979 to 1980.
