Scope and Contents: Licensed Diamond Stake Claim, 1948. Photographic image of the back of a man's legs and feet. Next to him in the round is a stake, a metal pole with a sign attached to it with writing on it. This is a diggers stake to his license claim. This is the diamond digging area called "Nooitgedacht," twenty miles outside of Kimberley. The De Beers Company issues licenses to the individual diggers. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1948.; There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.
