Scope and Contents: Transkei Men and Woman, 1947. Four men and a woman are walking side by side with their backs facing the camera. The young men who came over from the next village leave to walk back over the fields after the Sunday morning beer drinking. The woman is on the far right. The man next to her is looking behind. Almost all the men are carrying sticks and wearing blankets around them. The woman is dressed similarly and also wearing a head wrap. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1947.; In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.; There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.
