- Scope and Contents
- Latifu Awoyale is a licensed goldsmith registered in the Oranyan district of Ibadan. "The physical structure and morphology of Ibadan represent a convergence of two traditions of urbanism -a non-mechanistic, pre-industrial African tradition more akin to the mediaeval urbanism in Europe, and a technologically-orientated European tradition. The morphology of Ibadan exhibits three dominant characteristics, each of which has a significant effect on the functioning of the city." [Lloyd P., Mabogunje A., Awe B., 1967: The City of Ibadan. Cambridge University Press].This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon traveled to Africa from March 17, 1970 to July 17, 1970.
