- The photograph depicts men's audience watching two tuareg men performing with their traditional straight doubled-edged blade sword (takouba) and iron spears (allarh). During his trip to Mali, Elisofon visited the Tuareg people located in the Tombouctou region. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon traveled to Africa from March 17, 1970 to July 17, 1970.
