- Biographical / Historical
- The house was built in circa 1915 for Henry Janssen, co-founder of a knitting mill called Berkshire Knitting Mills. Henry Janssen and his business partner Ferdinand Thum built the town to house workers for the knitting mill. Henry's daughter, Helen A. Janssen Wetzel, a graduate from Smith College with a degree in Botany, tended to the flowers and plants on the property.
