Apron Worn By Staff Of La Casita Pupuseria

Caption
This apron was used by kitchen staff at La Casita Pupuseria, a widely known purveyor of pupusas and other Salvadoran dishes in the Washington, D.C. area. It was donated by Iris Veronica Jimenez, chef and culinary director at La Casita. A first generation Salvadoran American, Jimenez grew up working with her parents and siblings at the family’s grocery store in Adams Morgan, El Gavilan.
La Casita’s apron was on display at the Anacostia Community Museum’s exhibition "Food for the People: Eating and Activism in Greater Washington", along with a spoon used to make chicharrones and other fried foods (2021.4.6) and a frying pan (2021.4.7).

Este delantal fue usado por el personal de cocina de La Casita Pupuseria, conocido proveedor de pupusas y otros platos salvadoreños en el área de Washington, D.C. Fue donado por Iris Verónica Jiménez, chef y directora culinaria de La Casita. Jiménez creció ayudando a sus padres y hermanos en la tienda de alimentos de la familia, El Gavilán, en Adams Morgan.
