- Description
- This double-bouted (hourglass shaped) Appalachian dulcimer has an unknown maker, date, and place of origin. All of its three strings are fretted on seventeen frets. The instrument is shaped very much like J. E. Thomas’s instruments but with longer shoulders and mortised ribs. The instrument is assembled with screws and nails, and its fretboard is elevated.
