- From card: "Helmet, coat and wide girdle or belt. Purchased from Mrs. Sarah F. J. Goode, for $500. Illus. in USNM AR, 1891; Pl. 28, p. 480, also in USNM AR, 1893; figure 5; p. 644. [handwritten later note:] For description, cf. p. 645, "Cotton cloth ... " should be corrected to read: hemp cloth. Inscribed in black ink persons' names, possibly historical personalities, owners or makers: Kim Sok-Mun, on helmet; Cho Chung-Nim, on coat; Yi Ik-Su and Kim Chi-Min, on coat. Printed on coat front are Sanscrit dharani, and a group of talismanic, esoteric figures on the linings of the coat and several other parts of the belt and helmet. These figures are commonly used on Korean paper amulets. - CSH [Chang-su Houchins] 6-8-[19]84." Also on card are transcriptions, in Korean characters, of names on helmet, coat, and belt.
