- In the Altair 680, MITS offered an update of the Altair 8800 that was based on the Motorola 6800 processor.The MITS Altair 680 has a blue and grey metal cabinet with a black plastic face. There is a grey power cord in the rear and metal switches on the face. This machine has serial number D11915.
- According to the Altair Technical Notebook, "The Altair 680 is an excellent compromise between computer power and low cost structure without sacrificing design reliability." For further information about the Altair 6800, see 1990.0653.01.
