Object Details
- Description
- A black and white class photograph in front of a one-room brick schoolhouse in York County, Pennsylvania. There are four rows of neatly dressed boys and girls ranging from grammar school age to their early teens. A mustached teacher is seated in the center and holding an open book. A plaque at the bottom reads “Neiman’s School, C.A. Eberly, Teacher, Jan. 1, 1905.” The photograph is attributed to Wilson Photo of York, Pa.
- The former Neiman’s School is still standing and was repurposed as part of the Delp Center-Mountain Grove Church, located along Andersontown Road in the northwestern section of Conewago Township. The property on which the school stands was originally provided by George and Mary Neiman, local farmers and landowners, on December 2, 1851.
