iTunes U

The National Museum of Natural History has launched its own page on iTunes U, a dedicated area within the iTunes Store giving users public access to thousands of free lectures, videos, books and podcasts from learning institutions all over the world.

National Museum of Natural History on iTunes U gives students, educators and anyone interested in the museum’s vast wealth of knowledge access to free content available to download and enjoy on a Mac or PC, iPad, iPhone or iPod. Content includes lectures, slideshows, PDFs, video podcasts and exhibit tours and is organized into collections based on topic, such as zoology, botany, museum education and even exhibitions. Collections will continue to grow as new content is added in the form of seminars, symposiums, workshops, exhibits, podcast series and public programs.

“iTunes U is an astonishing example of technology aggregating collective knowledge for public benefit,” said Robert Costello, national outreach program manager at the museum. “We are delighted to partner with iTunes U to share the knowledge and collections that our staff has built through years of active researching, collecting, exhibit developing and informal education programming.”
