Tai Shan, the National Zoo’s giant panda cub, plays in a tree at his home at the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat. Tai Shan, whose name means “peaceful mountain” in Chinese, was conceived in 2005 through artificial insemination in a procedure performed by National Zoo scientists and veterinarians.
