
The Office of Business Administration and Technical Services enables Facilities Management to focus on their core mission while bringing innovation to administrative and technical functions. The staff of budget, personnel, geospatial, and knowledge management professionals improve coordination and drive efficiencies across all of Facilities Management.
Financial Management
The Financial and Asset Management team coordinates the Smithsonian Facilities budget-formulation process and provides guidance for executing the operations, maintenance, and capital budgets, while overseeing accountable property, travel, and procurement activities.
Personnel Management
OBATS Personnel Management Team is responsible for Facilities’ Managements personnel actions, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and classification of position descriptions.Â
Facilities Information Technology Division (FIT)
FIT compiles, manages, and delivers facilities related information covering how spaces are identified, configured, and their occupancy and usage. They also manage and provide the SI Explorer tool for SI.
Facilities Knowledge Management
The Facilities Knowledge Management team supports an integrated approach to Facilities Management information asset management by gathering, storing, analyzing, and reporting critical information as well as facilitating collaboration through communities of practice.
