The experience of the average GI (government issue) World War II soldier is examined. Forever changed from the naive teenager of the 1940s, the American GI was shaped overnight to function in a modern military force. The transformation of the GI soldier is presented through his eyes, and his attitudes and opinions created the postwar world we inherited.
