Trace the evolution of the American portrait miniature from Colonial times to that of the Civil War in these 125 works. Miniatures by Edward Green Malbone, Robert Field, and the Peales—Charles Willson, James, Anna Claypoole and Raphaelle—are on loan. The Miniature being a private token of sentiment, many of them have never been publicly displayed before.
