This exhibition traces the history of art basketry & Pomoan participation in the 19th-c. California art market through portrait photographs, historical images, and 125 baskets. Art basketry was one solution to their financial problems created by white settlement and the loss of land, resources, and autonomy at the turn of the century. The baskets on view were created by 50 Pomoan women active in the first decades of the 20th century.
