The Hirshhorn is the first and only North American venue for a major retrospective by the Berlin-born British-based realist (b. 1922), grandson of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. On view are 70 paintings and 14 drawings, chosen by the artist to emphasize certain themes, such as the use of particular models in nudes, portraits, and figure studies.

Organized by the British Council.
