The first comprehensive museum exhibition of works by American artist Gregory Gillespie includes about 75 paintings and works in mixed-media created over the past 15 years. The early works, made while he studied in Italy, focus on the human figure in microscopically scaled landscapes, interiors or city streets and often have photo-collage and relief surfaces. In the U.S. since 1970, Gillespie has produced meticulously rendered still lifes, wall studies and self portraits.
