This gallery explains how and why airplanes fly.

Highlights include:

  • Design Conference Theater: Puppets illustrate the fundamental of aircraft design.
  • The Space Technology Theater: A project engineer and a flight test engineer reflect on how to overcome the different barriers to flight .
  • The Jet Propulsion Theater: Hand puppets relate a fairy tale that develops the topic of jet propulsion in which a royal family builds a jet-propelled royal carriage.
  • Hughes H-1: This plane established the world's speed record in 1935 and the cross-country record in 1937.
