Figure and Fantasy

October 5, 1974 – February 9, 1975

Visit an exhibition presenting 48 works by 6 East Coast artists who have found expression for fantasy in modern materials and techniques, each in quite a different way. Fantasy does not refer only to peaceable dreams; fearful creatures also inhabit the fantasy world. Insectlike monsters by Christopher Ray; whimsical animal totems by ceramicist Bill Stewart; and Joan Danziger's fabric mache sculptures of humanoid animals are included. Unique approaches to the world of fantasy are also explored by Norman Laliberte, Michelle Gamm Clifton and Tommy Simpson.

All works shown were produced in the last few years, many expecially for this exhibition. With a few exceptions, works are lent by the 6 artists.
