Exhibited are more than 500 cartoons by Seattle-based cartoonist Gary Larson, whose comic strip, The Far Side, appears daily in more than 500 newspapers worldwide. Larson's entertaining cartoons are insightful twists on both human behavior and the human view of the natural world. Larson's cartoons deal with a wide range of natural history topics—scientific method, evolution, extinction, and animal behavior—in an often riotously hilarious and surreal way.

This exhibition is organized by the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco.
