A pack of Wrigley's gum with the first U.P.C. is used to help explain the history and future of the bar code and its effect on business and commerce. Also included is the original bar code symbol and information on how this scanning technology works. The initial scan of the U.P.C. took place on June 26, 1974, at a March Supermarket in Troy, Ohio.
