In a large 5-bay case, on view is a selection of some 50 finely crafted military and civilian aircraft models of different scale, representing aircraft technology since the early 20th century. The selection, from the NASM collection of over 800 models, is changed periodically. Featured are World War I military aircraft; civil aircraft of the 1910s and 1920s; recognition models from World War II, used to help identify enemy and ally aircraft; transport aircraft of the 1920s and 1930s; and racers from aviation's Golden Age in the 1920s and 1930s, among others.
