- black and white stereograph mounted on mint green cardstock; printed on verso "SEA VIEW HOUSE / OAK BLUFF, M.V. / PHOTOGRAPHED / BY C.H. SHUTE & SON, EDGARTOWN, MASS. / This Hotel was built for the Oak Bluff, Land and Wharf Company, in the year 1872 and is a splended building. The principal entrance is at the north end near the wharf. The billiard room in the basement, contains six tables. Near the office is a steam elevator, finished in black walnut and chestnut, and all the staircases are in the same style. The ladies parlor is on the second floor, at the south end, and is a beautiful room, furnished with plush upholstry. There are five dining rooms, of the following dimensions: 38 by 78 feet, 34 by 35, 14 by 16, and 10 by 12. The whole will seat 400 persons at once. The halls are carpeted with the best English tapestry. There is steam apparatus reaching to all the halls, parlors, dining rooms, &c. The whole building is lighted with naphtha gas. The building required over 1,000,000 feet of lumber, 165,000 shingles, 15,000 clapboards, 260,000 brick, and 9,000 casks of lime. The hotel was built by Wm. R.
