The button has a yellow background with black type, aligned to the left, which reads: [Take / the / CHISHOLM / trail / to / 1600 / Pennsylvania Ave.] A depiction of the Capitol building, outlined in black, is aligned to the right of the text. The edge has a logo in black print with the number [40] to one side. The back of the button rusted and has a single pin without a clasp.
