- This is an incomplete Apollo pressure helmet. It is missing the helmet pad at the rear, also used to dissipate oxygen into the helmet, and the emergency feed port at the side. Its history of use is unknown.
- The Apollo pressure helmet was a blow-molded, clear polycarbonate shell with a molded bayonet base which was bonded to the helmet neck ring. The neck ring was the male half of the suit neck-ring assembly, and there were two configurations used on Apollo suits which were not interchangable. The earlier configuration was anodized blue, the later configuration was anodized red.
- NASA transferred this helmet to the National Air and Space Museum in 1977.
