- PROVENIENCE NOTE: SPEDIS WAS THE PRINCIPAL OLD SETTLEMENT OF THE WISHRAM, LYING 9 MILES WEST OF THE TOWN OF WISHRAM, ON THE NORTH BANK OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER ACROSS FROM THE DALLES.
- From card: "Constructed by folding and bending long strips of coarse cedar bark so as to form a cylinder with deeply concave bottom with flaring bilateral points. The open top strip ends are reinforced with wrapped strips of cedar bark. Improvides side loops for suspension. Concave bottom fits the flexed arm. Bilaterally sewn at sides."
