Saturn’s icy moon Enceladus within Saturn’s E ring as observed by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft.
The plumes emitted from Enceladus’ active jets form the E ring around Saturn as the icy moon orbits the gas giant planet. Cassini’s Cosmic Dust Analyzer instrument detected sodium carbonate within the E ring, similar to the minerals found on Bennu, suggesting that the modern-day subsurface ocean on Enceladus has the same chemical composition as the ancient water that deposited minerals in Bennu samples.
