Anne Brachman

Director, Office of Government Relations

Anne Pizzato Brachman is the director of the Smithsonian’s Office of Government Relations. With more than 20 years’ experience in government and congressional relations, Brachman is responsible for promoting and strengthening the Smithsonian’s relationship with Congress, the executive branch, and federal, state and local governments.

Previously, Brachman served as senior vice president of external affairs at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) where she oversaw government affairs, external engagement and communications. She was the primary liaison between CPB and the federal government, providing counsel as it related to communications, federal funding, authorization and other policy issues.

Prior to CPB, Brachman was a manager for International and Government Affairs at the Telecommunications Industry Association, a trade association that represents global telecommunications equipment manufacturers. She started her career in Washington, D.C., working for former Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama and later serving as legislative director for former Rep. Jeff Miller of Florida.

Brachman has a Bachelor of Science in telecommunications from the University of Florida and a Master of Public Policy from George Mason University.
