This picture is gloriously painted; and is such a sky as we firmly believe none but Andreas Achenbach could paint. The whole canvas is instinct with life and action, and merits the warmest eulogy at the hands of every honest critic. The water dashing over the broken stones, in the foreground, is marvelous--the effect is grand and sombre, and the gleam of light dazzling. It is a picture which does not merely demand minutes to be spent in looking at it, it requires hours. [P. 7.]
