Woodland Stream
Object Details
- Artist
- Frederic Edwin Church, American, 1826–1900
- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of a rocky stream in dense woods, likely somewhere in New York or New England. In the foreground, a small pool is separated from the stream by a rocky bank as it clearly reflects the branches, leaves, treetops, and sky above it. Visible at center, the stream curves around a stone-strewn bank and flows out of view at right. In the background, numerous trees and other foliage blend into a vibrating mass of mixed green tones interspersed with the occassional trunk or branch.
