- Description
- This is a black and white portrait of Etta Moten Barnett. She wears a dark sweater with white horizontal stripes and dark and light striped scarf around her neck. She has a grey hat with a narrow brim on her head and a narrow clutch and pair of gloves resting under her left hand. Shown from the waist up, she leans slightly forward resting on her elbows with her arms folded on a cushion in front of her. Her right shoulder is slightly higher than her left, and her head is turned slightly towards her right shoulder. Her gaze is directed towards her right. In the bottom right corner is white text that reads “CAMPBELL / 2313 – 7TH AVE. / N.Y.C.” There is a handwritten note on the front in the lower center of the photograph by Etta Moten Barnett to her husband Claude Barnett, reading [For "Claude" / Wishing you continued / successful [illegible] undertaking. / Fondly yours, / "Etta"]. The back of the photograph is blank.
