- President George H.W. Bush was nominated for re-election at the 1992 Republican National Convention. This “Clinton Swatter” was distributed at the convention as a humorous attack on Bill Clinton, governor of Arkansas, who had been nominated by the Democrats just a month before. Bush lost the election to Clinton.
