Description
A clipping from The Philadelphia Tribune featuring a reproduction of John G. Darby's woodcut engraving portrait of Harriet Tubman. The image has been cropped from the original full-length portrait which depicts Tubman standing, holding a rifle with Civil War tents in the background. The clipping cuts off the portrait just above the feet. Above is the first two columns of the accompanying article with the headline "Spoken history: / Harriet Tubman" and beneath is the caption [Harriet Tubman]. The clipping refers to a Women's History Month program at the African American Museum in Philadelphia featuring Tubman's great-grandniece Mariline Wilkins. The date and source are printed across the top [Friday, March 21, 1986 The Philadelphia Tribune].
