Miner's Safety Lamp
Object Details
- Description (Brief)
- This Clanny-style safety lamp was manufactured by the Wolf Safety Lamp Company of America around 1890. The Davy-type gauze on the lamp's top is used to cool the flame and keep it from igniting methane gas in the mines, while the glass enclosure at the base protects the flame from strong wind gusts.
